The most of CNC machines need to use the RS-232 serial interface to connect to the controller. Some environments will use the serial to USB or serial to Ethernet converters. If using the serial to USB converter, it will need to set up a controller near the CNC machine and to occupy the space. And it likewise bears the USB cable length limitation.
